Retro Vintagers on High Street

Happy Wednesday people!

I hope you’re having a great week!

Today I wanted to tell you about a pretty snazzy new place where you can shop The Lovely Bee! This is pretty different from the other places I have my cards, but I’m really excited about it!

There’s an antiques place just off of High Street in downtown Jackson (806 Larson Street to be exact) at which my mama and a few of her friends have a booth! Their booth is called Retro Vintagers and I had so much fun yesterday not only exploring their booth, but all the booths in the building!

Obviously the building itself isn’t much to look at, but I think if you give yourself a few minutes to poke around, you’ll find some pretty cool stuff in there!

Retro Vintagers in particular has a mix of vintage items, handmade furniture, fixtures, and lighting, Ski Mississippi t-shirts (I LOVE mine!), Lovely Bee cards 🙂 , books, art, and so much more!

I’m pretty in love with that light fixture right there ^^^, and it’s handmade by one of my mama’s friend’s husbands! He’s got some serious talent!

I hope you’ll drop by next time you’re in the area and check this place out. You never know what you’ll find at a place like this! 🙂

Have an awesome day and thank you so much for dropping by!

Straying on Saturday

Stray at Home 2014 is in the books!

It was my first Stray at Home to participate as a vendor and I had an absolute blast. A BLAST I tell ya!

I think getting my booth design put together was one of the most fun projects I’ve worked on in a while. I was almost always that member of the group class project in college who wanted to do the whole project myself (especially if I didn’t know/trust the skillz of my other group members) so it would get done my way, so getting to do a project like this all by myself was a dream! I was pretty pleased with how everything turned out!

Making the sign and the three easel things were my primary orders of business. And they were all fairly easy and cheap! The sign was done with popsicle sticks, card stock, and fishing line. Thanks to my SummerHouse girls for helping me figure out the logistics of getting the letters to “float” inside the popsicle stick honeycomb the way I wanted! I actually think I got more compliments on my sign than I did on my cards! Haha! Maybe I should go into the sign making business??

And the easels were 100% glued together. Not a screw or nail used! If you look too closely, you’ll see that they’re pretty rigged, but they served the purpose I needed them to serve! I think I got all the materials I needed for those at Lowe’s for about $40 or so.

I could not have done ANY of the setup without the help of my woooonderful husband Price! To be honest, I could tell he wasn’t really looking forward to helping me that day, but he said he ended up having the best time out there and he didn’t want it to be over! 🙂 When you do outside-the-box stuff with the one you love, I think that’s a recipe for definite fun! Thanks again to my all-time favorite teammate!!

P.S. That picture of him was taken early in the day before he knew how much fun he’d be having! He took mine early in the day too, when I just knew he’d have a blast!

We had a glorious time sampling iced coffee, craft beer, local food, and fabulous live music. Oh, and we scored with some pretty awesome finds from several of the other vendors! I honestly loved every single booth that was set up out there on Saturday. I could’ve spent a thousand bucks! (But I didn’t. Thankfully!) I seriously can’t wait for the next Stray at Home, which I believe will be SAH Holiday!

Even though the rain cut the day short by about an hour, Price and I agreed that it was one of the most fun days we’ve spent together in the recent past. And the rain actually made it even more exciting for some reason! 🙂

Anyway, thanks to everyone who came out and supported the event! I loved getting to visit with so many people that I don’t get to see enough!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful day so far! Thanks so very much for stopping by today! 🙂 XO!

We’re Only A Day Away (From Stray!)

Stray at Home is TOMORROW!!!

I can’t believe it’s actually here! I’m so excited! This will be my first outdoor show where I have a full booth set up and everything… I’m a tad nervous but mostly just ready to get out there and do my thang!

Stray at Home - May 10, 2014 // THE HIVE

Not only will there be about 30 artists, but there will be some awesome live music, craft beer trucks, food trucks, an iced coffee station, a cornhole tournament, activities for kids, and just a general day of fun spent discovering new things in your own back yard! (so to speak…)

As far as what will be in The Lovely Bee booth? Allow me to give you some hints! Of course, all of this stuff is more fun to look at in person so I hope you’ll make it out for a couple of hours and see what Stray is all about! 🙂

Stray at Home 2014

Stray at Home 2014 is in the works!!! I could not be more excited!!!

Stray at Home 2014

Why? Because last year’s was awesome, and this year’s is going to be even more awesome! AND, The Lovely Bee will have a booth this year!! WOO HOO!

The date is May 10th (which is the day before Mother’s Day, so it’ll be a perfect opportunity to finish up shopping for your mama!)

I had such a blast and learned so much getting prepared for my very first show, On A L.A.R.K., so I know prepping for Stray will be just as much fun!

Last year, I was on the planning committee for Stray at Home (which, by the way, has nothing to do with homeless puppies and kitties! The name is an encouragement to stray in your own neighborhood and discover art/food/music that you might not otherwise ever see!), so I got some fun pictures from 2013’s goings on. Take a look! This year’s will be in the same location, downtown at Smith Park!

Lately

Hey friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend!! Sorry I’ve been so M.I.A. lately… I’ve had the hardest time staying caught up on everything! C’est la vie, I suppose (even though I’m still doing my best to simplify!)

Over the past month or so, I’ve gone on a road trip or two, cooked a lot, spent time with family and pups, eaten at a few new local restaurants, and indulged my crafty side! Here’s a peek!

Redfish at 1908 Provisions in Jackson // THE HIVE

That gorgeous hunk of meat would be the AMAZING redfish from the brand new restaurant 1908 Provisions located at the Fairview Inn in Jackson! For the folks familiar with the Fairview, it’s where Sophia’s used to be! Same wonderful chef (shout out to Gary!), same great staff, same exact spot, but brand new look and fabulous new menu!! We had the Boiled Peanut Hummus for an app, and it was almost as incredible as the fish. And the feel of the place with it’s updated decor is almost Gastby-esque to me! I was in love with the art deco elements of the design! When you get a chance, I highly recommend checking it out! I can’t wait to go back!

La Finestra in Jackson // THE HIVE

Another swank new restaurant in the area is La Finestra, a new Italian joint in downtown Jackson that Price and I went to with a few friends a few weeks ago. I gotta tell y’all… The specialty cocktails were amazing! I ordered the fish, which was not the right choice that night, but I tried everyone else’s pasta and know for sure what I’m ordering next time we go there!

Leiper's Fork outside of Nashville // THE HIVE

On a trip to Nashville last weekend for a darling friend’s bachelorette party, we ventured about 30 miles outside of the city to Leiper’s Fork. Y’all, this is the cutest little town!! It’s like a movie set! These little snaps were captured with my lovely Instax Mini 8! 🙂

Leiper’s Fork also had General Lee and the Sheriff’s car from Dukes of Hazzard! So fun!

Hand Written wedding invitation // THE HIVE

The same friend whose bachelorette party was in Nashville also asked me to hand write her wedding invitation with my newfound calligraphy skillz! I haven’t seen the final product yet, but I’m pretty excited, and was beyond honored that she asked me!!

Neighbor Night // THE HIVE

Two weeks ago, we hosted the first of hopefully many Neighbor Nights where we invited a bunch of families on our street to come over for burgers and fellowship. We always wave when we pass each other on the street, but hardly do we ever take time to really hang out! We had the BEST time getting to know the neighbs just a little more and are already itching for another Neighbor Night! Hopefully it’ll be soon!!

Ever feel like you just need to punch a certain day of the week in the face? I can totally relate… and this mug comes in handy!

Blue Apron Love // THE HIVE

This is my favorite meal to date from a super cool company called Blue Apron! Price heard about it on the radio one day and it has really been SO cool. A lot of people have asked me about this company so one day I might do a post all about how it works, but in a nutshell, they send you ingredients and recipes to make three meals a week. The price is reasonable, the ingredients are fresh, and they’re all natural. You won’t find any processed junk in the bag o’ ingredients. And everything is already all measured out for you!! This particular dish was a Thai chicken dish with peanut sauce.  I’m telling y’all… I had no idea that I loved Thai food so much nor that it was so easy to cook!! Price and I are LOVING getting to spend time working on our kitchen skills three nights a week! It’s SO fun!!

Handmade Valentines // THE HIVE

These were the valentine happies I made for my SummerHouse co-workers! I loved getting to play with my semi-new white calligraphy ink and fun washi tape! (And who doesn’t love Dove chocolates?!)

Heart Ball // THE HIVE

Speaking of love and hearts and what not… Price and I had a blast getting all dolled up for this year’s Heart Ball! I love seeing this guy in a tux 🙂

Beagles meet kitty // THE HIVE

This was a pretty noteworthy moment… Price’s brother and his wife live two doors down from us, so they brought Miss Kitty, their new kitten, down for a little visit and the beagles LOVED Miss Kitty! LOVED her. They followed her EVERYWHERE!! Meanwhile…

Mutt Pup Love :) // THE HIVE

…Ringo hated her and just wanted to get petted on in a separate room… But he just isn’t quiiiite as outgoing as those beags are!
