New This Friday!

I’m getting so excited about the trunk show on Friday at Arco Avenue that I can hardly stand it!

I’m going to have a lot of new items including (but not limited to)…

These bad boys are 11 x 17 (so frames this size DO exist, but you do sort of have to look for them!) and are printed from my original hand-drawn design onto 110 lb. off white card stock. I love how they turned out so I hope you do too!

There will also be a clear map overlay available for purchase so you can actually see where the stops are! These are not ready yet, hence the lack of photo! 🙂

Sadly I do not have a picture of these yet either! They’re still in the works but WILL be there on Friday ready to go home with you! 🙂 You can also get a clear overlay with these, too!

These are also euro-inspired, as this little saying reminds me of a British lady trying to cheer up a friend! 🙂 The design is printed from an original watercolor and calligraphy design as well!

I really hope to see you on Friday! I think it’s going to be fun! Don’t forget– I’ll have champagne for you to sip on while you shop! 🙂 Noon until 6:00 at Arco Avenue!

Retro Vintagers on High Street

Happy Wednesday people!

I hope you’re having a great week!

Today I wanted to tell you about a pretty snazzy new place where you can shop The Lovely Bee! This is pretty different from the other places I have my cards, but I’m really excited about it!

There’s an antiques place just off of High Street in downtown Jackson (806 Larson Street to be exact) at which my mama and a few of her friends have a booth! Their booth is called Retro Vintagers and I had so much fun yesterday not only exploring their booth, but all the booths in the building!

Obviously the building itself isn’t much to look at, but I think if you give yourself a few minutes to poke around, you’ll find some pretty cool stuff in there!

Retro Vintagers in particular has a mix of vintage items, handmade furniture, fixtures, and lighting, Ski Mississippi t-shirts (I LOVE mine!), Lovely Bee cards 🙂 , books, art, and so much more!

I’m pretty in love with that light fixture right there ^^^, and it’s handmade by one of my mama’s friend’s husbands! He’s got some serious talent!

I hope you’ll drop by next time you’re in the area and check this place out. You never know what you’ll find at a place like this! 🙂

Have an awesome day and thank you so much for dropping by!

Made Especially For You!

I’ve had the pleasure recently of working on some personalized gift enclosure tags for some really fun people! All of this stemmed from the awesome project my friend Deedra had me do for her daughter Rosie, which you may remember reading about here!

Personalized Gift Enclosure Tags by The Lovely Bee Paper Co.I’ve gotten to come up with some ideas for a few other youngsters as well as a super fun couple we’ve gotten to know from church! I’ve also been working on some for myself! 🙂 Here are a few of the design ideas that have been thrown around lately. These projects are SO MUCH FUN for me!!! And I love getting a little starting direction from those with whom I’m working. Knowing that Julianne loves vintagey/flowery stuff, that Harlee loves beaches and mermaids, and that Sara likes ombre, watercolor, and laurel wreaths really make creating things for them extra personal and fun!

If you want to get some of these made for yourself, or are interested in learning more about pricing, visit my etsy shop! I now have a listing for custom name cards like these! Or you can always just email me! ( laurel @ the lovely bee . com )

Many thanks to the wonderful folks who have let me create for them! I so enjoy all of these projects!

Tag Me!

When a very cool lady & friend of mine at church approached me a few weeks ago about doing some cute little gift tags for her daughter that they could attach to birthday presents and other things along those lines, I got so excited! Her daughter Rosie is about one of the cutest little girls there is, plus I knew it’d be fun working with her name because it’s just so dang adorable! Rosie Ward 🙂

I sent Rosie’s mom several different hand-painted, hand-written designs I came up with and let her choose her favorite, then from there, I used the wonderful printing abilities that my friend Jessica has with her business and got the cards turned from draft to box-of-100 reality!

Here were some of the options… (pardon the not-so-great iPhone pics please!)

I love the design they chose and I love how they turned out!!! I hope they get lots of great use out of these little tags! Since I’m certain Rosie is a popular little girl, I bet they’ll use them up rather quickly! 😉

Thanks for checking in today! Have a great rest of the day and a WONDERFUL weekend!!

Shop TLB In Gluckstadt!

I have some exciting news! As of last week, The Lovely Bee cards are now available for sale at Fresh Magnolia Market in Gluckstadt, MS! They have a little assortment of deer and Mississippi cards, so next time you’re in the vicinity of the Gluckstadt exit, be sure to stop by!

This is a really neat place because, not only do they sell locally made products like my cards and some other cute handmade items from local artisans, but they also have fresh produce! And fresh eggs and milk! And plants! It’s a neat little market. I’m honored to now be on the list of vendors that they sell!

The only thing is…. They can be a little tricky to find… They don’t show up on google maps! But you can find a very helpful map HERE on their Facebook page! (Be sure to click on their cover photo and the map will appear!)

I haven’t had much time to shop there yet, so I’m looking forward to going back as soon as I can to spend some time looking through all the cool stuff they have available in there! 🙂 Another good piece of news is that they’re open 7 days a week, so be sure to check the info on their Facebook page for times!

Happy shopping!

Anchored

A couple of months ago, I had the pleasure of designing some really fun invitations for a very special person– my sweet cousin Missye!

Missye is getting married THIS weekend in DC, which we are SO excited about, and the fact that I got to be a part of one of her showers by way of invitation design was just so fun and meaningful for me!

The theme of the shower was travel, so Missye’s sister Amanda and I bounced ideas back and forth until we decided upon anchors and blue + gold +white as our invitation theme!

I programmed the hand-drawn anchor into my cutting program and got the blue anchors cut. Then I hand painted some paper to be a soft gold and programmed a slightly larger anchor to be cut out of that paper upon which to mount the blue anchor!

I then designed the actual paper invitations and had them printed locally by my sweet friend Jessica!

I then hand-finished the edges with a skinny gold line and applied the anchor to each of the 30 invitations.

It was a process, but I love how they turned out, and more importantly, my cousins loved how they turned out!

I can’t wait to hear the details of the shower this weekend when I get to visit with Missye and Amanda! I know it must’ve been a blast! 🙂

Straying on Saturday

Stray at Home 2014 is in the books!

It was my first Stray at Home to participate as a vendor and I had an absolute blast. A BLAST I tell ya!

I think getting my booth design put together was one of the most fun projects I’ve worked on in a while. I was almost always that member of the group class project in college who wanted to do the whole project myself (especially if I didn’t know/trust the skillz of my other group members) so it would get done my way, so getting to do a project like this all by myself was a dream! I was pretty pleased with how everything turned out!

The Lovely Bee booth at Stray at Home Art and Music Festival 2014 // THE HIVE

Making the sign and the three easel things were my primary orders of business. And they were all fairly easy and cheap! The sign was done with popsicle sticks, card stock, and fishing line. Thanks to my SummerHouse girls for helping me figure out the logistics of getting the letters to “float” inside the popsicle stick honeycomb the way I wanted! I actually think I got more compliments on my sign than I did on my cards! Haha! Maybe I should go into the sign making business??

And the easels were 100% glued together. Not a screw or nail used! If you look too closely, you’ll see that they’re pretty rigged, but they served the purpose I needed them to serve! I think I got all the materials I needed for those at Lowe’s for about $40 or so.

I could not have done ANY of the setup without the help of my woooonderful husband Price! To be honest, I could tell he wasn’t really looking forward to helping me that day, but he said he ended up having the best time out there and he didn’t want it to be over! 🙂 When you do outside-the-box stuff with the one you love, I think that’s a recipe for definite fun! Thanks again to my all-time favorite teammate!!

P.S. That picture of him was taken early in the day before he knew how much fun he’d be having! He took mine early in the day too, when I just knew he’d have a blast!

We had a glorious time sampling iced coffee, craft beer, local food, and fabulous live music. Oh, and we scored with some pretty awesome finds from several of the other vendors! I honestly loved every single booth that was set up out there on Saturday. I could’ve spent a thousand bucks! (But I didn’t. Thankfully!) I seriously can’t wait for the next Stray at Home, which I believe will be SAH Holiday!

Even though the rain cut the day short by about an hour, Price and I agreed that it was one of the most fun days we’ve spent together in the recent past. And the rain actually made it even more exciting for some reason! 🙂

Anyway, thanks to everyone who came out and supported the event! I loved getting to visit with so many people that I don’t get to see enough!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful day so far! Thanks so very much for stopping by today! 🙂 XO!

We’re Only A Day Away (From Stray!)

Stray at Home is TOMORROW!!!

I can’t believe it’s actually here! I’m so excited! This will be my first outdoor show where I have a full booth set up and everything… I’m a tad nervous but mostly just ready to get out there and do my thang!

Stray at Home - May 10, 2014 // THE HIVE

Not only will there be about 30 artists, but there will be some awesome live music, craft beer trucks, food trucks, an iced coffee station, a cornhole tournament, activities for kids, and just a general day of fun spent discovering new things in your own back yard! (so to speak…)

As far as what will be in The Lovely Bee booth? Allow me to give you some hints! Of course, all of this stuff is more fun to look at in person so I hope you’ll make it out for a couple of hours and see what Stray is all about! 🙂

Tiny Desk {Entre}View on My Latest Buzz

Thank you to my darling friend Sara Beth of My Latest Buzz for choosing to feature me in her Tiny Desk {Entre}View series! (More on the premise of the series here!) I’m honored! And I had a lot of fun talking about my colorful little office! Read the full interview and see all the pictures HERE!

Tiny Desk {Entre}View Series on My Latest Buzz

I’m dying to see who Sara Beth has lined up next to chat about their tiny desk! I’m in love with this idea for a series!! Thanks again, SB, for this fun opportunity!

Happy Birthday To You! Finally!

Remeber when I told y’all before Christmas that I would be adding the new Happy Birthday To You cards to my Etsy shop?! Well, that didn’t happen until this past weekend… But they ARE in there now! Finally!

Hand stamped, hand painted Happy Birthday To You cards by The Lovely Bee

To make a long story short, my computer is really old and doesn’t really function properly anymore… So adding a new listing had to be done from a remote site… But it’s done now! Yay! (And for what it’s worth, I’m saving up for a new computer. Woo hoo!)

I’m really excited about these cards. The designs on the front and on the inside are original, Laurel-drawn designs! I had my drawings made into stamps, so each card is hand stamped then finished with some hand painted detail! The HBTY on the front means Happy Birthday To You in a fun modern way. But if the card recipient is confused, all they have to do is open it up for the translation! 🙂

Anyway, you can find the listing HERE in my Etsy shop! Hope you enjoy making your friends’ birthdays just a liiiitle more special with these handmade pretties! (And if you want custom colors, I’m happy to accommodate! Just ask!) 🙂

(p.s. There is now a link to my etsy shop in the sidebar, so you can easily access the link to my shop at all times! Just look for this lovely little square at the top of the sidebar when you’re on the home page!)
