My Favorite Free Fonts

Hey everyone! How has your week been?

Mines been busy but great! I got back from High Point (furniture market) with a couple of super fun girls from SummerHouse late Tuesday night so yesterday was maaaajor catch up day for me (and I’m still not all the way caught up, but getting there!)

I can’t wait to share a couple of snaps from market with you (and over the next week or two, there will be plenty of posts about it over on Always Summer!) I’ve got several other fun things to share, but it might be next week before I’m able to get fully back into the blogging swing of things! You know how catching up from being out of town can be…

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Meanwhile, completely unrelated to market, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite free fonts with you! I’ve been updating my new computer lately, which has involved me playing around on dafont.com, my favorite source for fun + free fonts! And since I love mail and hand written notes, I decided to theme this little collection! 🙂

Tiny Desk {Entre}View

If you’ve ever wondered what my desk/workspace looks like, today is the day you get to see it and learn a little more about it!! Yay!

Tiny Desk {Entre}View on My Latest Buzz

Thank you to my darling friend Sara Beth of My Latest Buzz for choosing to feature me in her Tiny Desk {Entre}View series! (More on the premise of the series here!) I’m honored! And I had a lot of fun talking about my colorful little office! Read the full interview and see all the pictures HERE!

I’m dying to see who Sara Beth has lined up next to chat about their tiny desk! I’m in love with this idea for a series!! Thanks again, SB, for this fun opportunity!

Boy + Girl

I’ve been working hard lately getting some inventory together for the On a LARK show that I’m going to be in on December 7th! (That explains why I’ve been completely MIA all this week on here!)

In doing so, I’ve made up a few new patterns, gotten some Christmas goodies underway, and added to my confetti repertoire!

For some reason, confetti gets me super excited… Possibly because I heart parties and confetti goes at them! And since I’ve found out in the past two weeks that two of my dear friends are pregnant (which potentially means gender reveal parties!), the lip and mustache confettis have been top of mind!

I updated the Etsy store today with new color additions… Nothing super special, but fun nonetheless!

The lips and staches are also super fun for couples showers! Any boy + girl funtion, really, would be a great setting for these fun little guys (and gals!) I hope you like! You can click on any of the pictures and it’ll take you to the etsy listings!

Stay tuned for some more recent projects. I’m pretty stoked about the Christmas stuff and the collection of stationery that is done out of all whites and creams… SO DREAMY!! You’ll see it soon! 🙂

Lovely Lately

Lately, I’ve been surrounded by so much LOVELY that I wanted to share a few highlights / things that make me happy / things that I just find wonderful!

1. Hitting the washi tape jackpot at Target.

My sweet friend Mary Kathleen let me come over and help play with setting up the nursery of the baby boy she’s expecting next month, and she needed some washi tape for a certain project, so thanks to her, I knew to be on the lookout for some!

Target has tons of Washi tape!

2. Getting a glittery wedding invitation!

Price is in a wedding on New Year’s Eve this year, and we got the invitation in the mail last week. The glitter lining made my day! How gorgeous is this invitation?!

3. A little C. H. Spurgeon wisdom

Came across this Spurgeon quote while doing a little reading the other day and loved it.

4. Noticing something I’ve passed 1,000 times for the first time.

As I was driving through Fondren earlier this week, I was at a stop light and noticed something I’ve never noticed in all my years of driving through this area… The window panes on the top floor of the building across from Ramey are painted yellow! Made me realize that I need to be more observant and take note of cool little details like that more often… 🙂

5. Airstreams + awesome food in Pensacola…

A couple of weekends ago, I was in Pensacola visiting a friend, and she and her hubby took me to al Fresco, which is basically a little food truck park. The best part? All of the food was served out of AIRSTREAMS! (I’m a little obsessed.) The second best part? The food was awesome.

6. More airstream + food fabulousness in Memphis…

Last weekend, my friend Avery and I went to Memphis for the day to spend some time with our sweet friend Elizabeth. As we were walking around, we came upon a mini Airstream that served froyo! Although it wasn’t in service at the time we found it, we still thought it was pretty awesome. (Ok, I thought it was awesome… Not sure the other two share my love for Airstreams!)

7. Drinks atop The Madison in Memphis

Also while in Memphis, Elizabeth took us to the top of the super swank Madison Hotel! We had a blast, and got a gorgeous view of the city. Good times!

8. Getting my Merry Christmas stamp in!

After taking a caligraphy class with some friends last month, I decided I’d put some of my new-found skillz to use! I wrote out Merry Christmas in calig, had it made into a stamp, and plan to get my stamp on with all The Lovely Bee Christmas cards I’ve been working on lately!

9. Doing the Anthro Christmas Display Workshop

Mary Straton signed me up for a fun little workshop at Anthropologie where we got to help them do crafts for their Christmas window display! Although we didn’t get to take anything home with us, I got some ideas, and we were rewarded with champagne punch and snacks! We were happy girls 😉

10. A little B&V wisdom…

I’ve had so much fun getting to do the social media for Blithe and Vine in Fondren! Their motto is “Life is short. Dress cute.” so I’m going with it… Life is short, so why not dress cute?!

"Life is short. Dress cute."

I hope you all have a FANTASTIC weekend!! Thanks so much for stopping by! XO!

Lately with TLB

I’ve had a couple of really fun custom projects over the past month or so for The Lovely Bee that I thought would be fun to share with you! I had a blast with all three of these and would love the opportunity to get to do more fun custom stuff like this for any of you in the future! 🙂

(1) Metallic Mustaches!

A very nice Italian guy contacted me via Facebook and requested some custom metallic mustache confetti to give as a gift to a lady friend of his who has a thing for ‘staches! As I continued talking to him, it turns out this lady friend of his is currently in Japan for some reason or another and he wanted to make a letter to her just a little more exciting with the confetti. I thought that was SO sweet of him to go through such trouble… If I had to guess, I’d say this lady probably has more than “just friends” feelings for him after that lovely show of affection! 🙂

Anyway, here are the tiny gold and silver ‘staches! ❤

(2) Cool ‘Staches!

While on the topic of mustache confetti… A very sweet lady contacted me via Etsy to find out if I could do a custom mix of colors with the mustache confetti for her daughter’s “mustaches at midnight” themed party. She asked for a mix of cool blues, purples, and greens. Easy!! 🙂

(I would also like to throw in that if I were ever invited to a mustaches at midnight party, I would SO be there. How FUN does that sound?! What a cute theme!)

(3) “Just for you, my deer!” Baby Boy Thank You Notes

My sweet, darling, wonderful sorority little sis just had her baby boy and I could not be more excited for her and her adorable husband!! Before the tot was officially here, she asked for some deer head cards with her son’s name on them to use for thank you notes from her baby showers! I was so excited to get this project underway for her. I love anything to do with babies, and the deer head design is definitely at the top of my list of favorites!! 🙂

They turned out pretty cute and she loved them, which was the most important thing! 🙂

I’ve got another custom job formulating, which hopefully I can share with y’all soon, and have a few fun ideas up my sleve for future designs! So you’ll definitely be hearing from me on those in the near future!

(If you haven’t visited my Etsy store in a while, feel free to head on over there! I’ve added a couple of items recently that you just might love!)

Copycat Caligraphy

I was recently hired by a dear family to address some invitations for an upcoming event! They wanted me to do something pretty, but nothing too ornate, so after scouring Pinterest for some ideas, this is what I landed on! After clicking, then clicking again, then clicking again, I ended up on the website with this font for a “fake calligraphy!”

I had a lot of fun on this project and was pretty excited with the end result! Of course, what I did isn’t near as pretty as the real font (which I DID buy, by the way! I’m not totally ripping it off!) but printing from the computer onto envelopes has never really worked out very well for me…

Hopefully these brighten the days of the people who check their mailboxes and find these! 🙂 Gotta love a pretty piece of mail!

Do you have a go-to font that you like to copy from time to time?! I’m always looking for pretty new ones to download!

The May Issue of Portico

One of my favorite “side jobs” (I guess all of my jobs are “side jobs…”) is my job as a freelance writer for Portico Magazine. Not only is this magazine one of the prettiest local publications I’ve ever seen, but the content is so timely and interesting, no matter what the topic of the issue is!

Portico Jackson: May Issue

This most recent issue is the literary issue, so my assignment was to write about The Library, a lounge at Fairview Inn! This is, hands down, my favorite assignment to date. I had such a great time getting to interview the fine folks at The Fairview and getting to enjoy a meal of tapas and cocktails with my hubby as I “researched” for the assignment!

A peek at our meal from The Library! Great food and great cocktails!

A peek at our meal from The Library! Great food and great cocktails!

I hope you’ll pick up a copy so you can read about all the cool things I learned surrounding The Library! The story even includes a couple of killer cocktail recipes! This place is one of the coolest places in Jackson, in my opinion!! 🙂

While on the topic of the new Portico, I read the book review of Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald. It’s a book written from Zelda’s p.o.v., telling her side of her love story with one of my favorite authors, F. Scott Fitzgerald. Since I’m in love with The Jazz Age, I’m thinking of going to pick this book up as soon as I finish my current read!

Have any of you read this book? I’m pretty excited about it!

A Few Of My Favorite Fonts (Warm Weather Edition)

In anticipation of the warm weather that comes along with the lovely seasons of Spring and Summer, I put together a list of a few lovely warm weather activities (using a few of my favorite fonts!)

The Past Month = BUSY!

I know I’ve been really bad at keeping things updated over here for the past month or so! For the handful of you who might really care, I do apologize! 😉 But I promise I have a good reason!

Leading up to Christmas, I was super busy with several Christmas card projects that all turned out to be really fun! Here are a few pictures and a little bit about them!

{ 1 } I ended up having the opportunity to make a lot of these fun cards, which I’ve blogged about before, for several dear customers, so that was great!

The Lovely Bee Christmas Cards

{ 2 } I also got to get Christmassy with the birdies for a little special order for a sweet friend! Here’s a quick shot:

The Lovely Bee Christmas Cards

Then I had two really fun (and pretty challenging) big orders that ended up being the defining projects of the Christmas 2012 season for me!

{ 3 } The first one was for my mama: over 200 plaid scotties, mounted and finished off with little red ties around their necks!

The Lovely Bee Scotties

Scotties, scotties everywhere!

When mounted onto ice gold cards, these little guys ended up looking very handsome!

{ 4 } And the other big project that turned out to be equally as fun was designed to house a really sweet family’s Christmas picture. They were able to slide their picture into the “frame” on each card. This was the first time I’d ever made something like this, but now that I know what I’m doing, I’d be happy to do it again! 🙂

All stacked and ready to go!

So with getting all of these cards done, Christmas shopping, taking a couple of quick trips, and working the other jobs I have, it was a really busy month! As sad as I am that Christmas is over, I am glad to get back into a somewhat normal routine.

One last thing to leave you with– As I was moping about Christmas being over, my hubby reminded me of one of my favorite quotes, so I’ll share it with you in case I’m not the only one with the post-Christmas blues! It’s from A Christmas Carol:

From A Christmas CarolI think this is such a wonderful reminder! Now if only I could only remember it more often…

Have a good week! 🙂
