Glammed Down

Helloooo!

How was your weekend? I sure hope it was great!

Since Mondays are usually a struggle on so many different levels, I thought a little fashion inspiration might be a good way to get things started this week!

Here’s Elish with the details…

Glammed Down // THE HIVE

“High Waist. Metallic Thread. Vertical Stripes. On Sale. ON SALE. This maxi skirt pretty much had everything I was looking for…you know- if I were looking for a sophisticated, glamorous, borderline cocktail skirt. I wasn’t.”

“Fortunately for me, I bought it anyway. Mixing incredibly luxe skirts with tank tops and tennis shoes, or sequined tanks with jeans and a baseball cap, has been very on trend lately. So pairing this dressier skirt with an everyday tissue tank was an easy decision.”

“The warm leather accents in the shoes and belt help tone this skirt down as well. Fashion is the one place you can take major risks without long-term commitment. Live a little!”

SummerHouse Lookbook

I’m SO excited to share the latest SummerHouse social media project with y’all!

SummerHouse is in the process of designing a whole new website that will include a web store (YAY!) and a LOOKBOOK, among other fun new things! The Lookbook (which is a Tumblr page) is a collection of things that inspire us at SummerHouse. Gorgeous photos, each other’s interior design projects, our favorite Pinterest pins, recipes, photos from our showroom, and much more. The lookbook has turned out to be such a fun project for us, so I wanted to share!

Of course you’re encouraged to pin or reblog any images you see that catch your interest! Hope you love the lookbook as much as I (and the rest of the SummerHouse team) do! 🙂

Fashinspiration: Welcome Spring!

Happy Monday! How was the weekend?
Minus feeling a little under the weather Sunday afternoon, mine was great and I got a lot done! 🙂

The pretty weather today calls for a little spring fashinspirationdon’t ya think?!

Elish says….

I was really happy just enjoying the spring weather this past week! I thought I’d welcome the cool weather with pops of gold and royal blue.

I do have to say that even as a proud MSU grad, this dress debuted years ago as my LSU game day attire! I’m switching it up and making it Mississippi appropriate this season.

Hope all of your are taking advantage of this sunny weather like I am! Windows down weather at its best.

Dress: Forever 21
Blazer: Vintage (I had it tailored)
Sunglasses: Raybans
Shoes: N.Y.L.A.

Thanks Elish! Blue and yellow are two of my absolute faves, so this ensemble really speaks to me! So happy it’s time for springy colors and a little more skin showing!

The Perfect Jean {Fashinspiration}

While a little cold weather is still hanging around, I’m hoping it’s still appropriate to post this look Elish and I photographed months ago! I almost forgot about it, but I love it so much that, even though Spring is pretty much here, I’m going for it!

The Perfect Jean

Elish says…

Ok so I’ve griped on this little blog before about my hate/hate relationship with jeans. I’ve been on a personal mission to find a high-waist, dark wash, trouser jean for about a year. I decided I would wait on quality, style, and price and not compromise.

The perfect jean

Well after a year of this elusive garment continually in the back of my mind…I found them: Current/Elliott, “The High Waist Bell”. I love the dark wash, the high waist, and the flare leg. I did have to get them hemmed, but that’s a small addition when I found them at such a great price! I briefly visited the rampant animal trend and paired my jeans with a cocker spaniel cropped sleeveless sweater.

Fashinspiration: Geek Squad Meets Winter Dinner Wear

How’s everyone’s week going so far?

Since the busy-ness isn’t really slowing down much, I’m cramming two Fashinspiration posts into one again! I really have to restrain myself from taking pictures of Elish just about every day, but we have been doing at least one (sometimes more) looks per week, so I’m very behind!!

I LOVE the two looks featured today! (AND, while on the Elish topic, I’ve had a couple of y’all ask how to pronounce Elish. Think A-List, but with an “ish.” A-Lish. It’s Gaelic for Elizabeth! Cool huh?)

Now… Tell us about your duds, my friend…

When I say I’m blind… it’s no joke… I CANNOT see. I’ve had glasses since fourth grade and settled into contacts during middle school. I haven’t worn glasses in ages because I was in desperate need of a prescription update. Luckily, I finally was able to invest in a pair! I’m having fun enjoying my nerdy side!

Look Dos: Dinner Date

Dinner Date Fashinspiration | The Hive

I wore this outfit to work and then out to a dinner date with a friend. Jeans and a sweater are the ultimate easy weekender style. Punch it up for a work look that easily transitions to dinner by wearing jeans in a fun color like emerald green!

Black and white is my go to for adding interest to any look that needs to be taken up a notch without taking a huge risk. This sweater has some silver spikes along the collar that add some additional interest. Throw on some metallic heels for a fabulous finishing touch!

Weekly Fashinspiration With Elish, Installment One

Ok y’all… I’m REALLY excited about this! My adorable and ridiculously stylish friend Elish has agreed to by my muse here at The Lovely Bee and let me take pictures of/with her once a week to post here to serve as a weekly dose of what I like to call “fashinspiration!” (which of course means fashion inspiration. It’s a new compound word! :))

I’m so thankful she’s agreed to do this… Maybe this will get her in the habit of dressing and being photographed for her own blog one day?! I know I’d love it if she’d blog about her amazing style on a regular basis, and I promise y’all would love seeing her daily clothing choices daily, too!

We went out to eat last week with the SummerHouse family and Elish was looking fabulous as always, so here’s our inaugural Fashinspiration by Elish! (That would be her on the right– The extra adorable one!!)

A better look at her duds. Please excuse the left side of my body for abstructing the view! 🙂

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE OUTFIT…

1. Can you tell us a little more about your look in general?
“I’m wearing a dress as a top, snakeskin leggings, and a vintage belt. I like to be comfortable but pulled together for work.”
2. If you had to describe your look in few words, what words would you use?
“Tailored with an edge…clean lines roughed up a little.”
3. Are you channeling anyone or is this look an Elish original? 🙂
“Original… My dress was a little short but I was dying to wear it so I improvised!”
4. Can you tell us specifically about a couple of the pieces you’re wearing?
“My dress is from topshop, my leggings are from urban outfitters, and my belt is vintage.”
5. Anything else you want to say about this amazing look?!
“This look was a jumpstart on my fall inspirations: luxe textures, any jewel tone with a gray undertone, and classic gold.”
THANK YOU, ELISH! Stay tuned for another great look next week!

Workspace

As I get ready to start putting a lot more time and effort behind The Lovely Bee, I’ve found myself doing some research! One research topic is how I want my office/workspace to look! As I often do, I wandered over to Rue Magazine’s site and started browsing the Work Space gallery. I found a couple of mesmerizing pictures that will *hopefully* be halfway close to what my finished workspace looks like! Here they are 🙂

I die for this cozy, cottagey, all white space. Although this couldn't function as my painting space, I'm sure I could get some great blogging and paperwork done in a space like this!

This colorful collection of photos and clippings would be so inspiring! I've already got a few clips of inspiration, now I just need to get them on a bulliten board!

What's not to love about a wall-sized chalkboard!? I'm such a list maker. Why not make a big, loud list that would be impossible to lose?!

I love the simplicity of the sawhorses with a big wooden top. I could definitely get some good painting and spreading out done in a place like that!

Maybe one day, after I get my little work nook a little more gussied up, I’ll show you a before picture. Right now, it’s too sad to post without having an “after” to go along with it!

Have a fabulous rest of the week!
